Tim Genc
Tim Genc has been serving the aviation industry since 1999. Starting out as a college-trained and airline-bound flight instructor, he found his passion was in teaching and mentoring, ultimately diverting him from a flightdeck career and keeping him in flight training and management for almost 20 years, amassing 6,000+ hours of dual given.
In 2016, Tim left flight training for the airlines … but not as a pilot. Instead, he accepted the role of Director of Pilot Recruitment for one of the United Express regionals during the pre-pandemic hiring boom. It was back to teaching and mentoring. His first venture into the world of Part 121 expanded his repertoire, putting him in front of thousands of résumés and interviewing thousands of pilots. It also brought him face to face with Louis Smith and the FAPA Crew. When Tim eventually left the airlines, he joined FAPA on a full-time basis, working with career pilots to hone their skills to prepare them for their next CJO.
Tim currently serves as the Executive Editor of FAPA, producing their monthly Pilot Hiring Bulletin and updating website content, as well as the Chief Career Advisor for the FAPA Advisory Services Team (FAST). He is also an aviation college professor and chief instructor in the west suburbs of Chicago, where he continues guiding the next generation of pilots through their professional pilot journey.
